Marc and Alexandre Bachelet oversee a covetable collection of top Côte de Beaune vineyards from their domain in Dezizes-les-Maranges. Descended from a long-line of Burgundian winemakers, the Bachelet brothers set up their namesake domain in 2005 with the help of their father (Jean-François Bachelet) and uncle (Monnot).
The estate spans 20 hectares of family-owned and leased Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines including Grand Cru (Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet) and Premier Cru (Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Clos de la Boutière) totalling some 20 appellations. The Bachelet brothers farming methods include lutte très raisonnée, intentionally low yields and manual harvesting.
In the cellar, grapes go through a long press before being fermented with indigenous yeasts in larger 350L barrels. Wines are aged for 12 months in barrel and an additional 6-8 months in stainless steel tanks (for whites) or cement vats (for reds) prior to release.
The resulting wines are layered and long with an aromatic lift, grain and texture that makes them amongst the most compelling Côtes d’Or on the market today.
