Edouard Confuron’s family has been making wines in Vosne-Romanée for six generations, and his roots date back even further: to the reigning period of King Louis XIV during the 17th century.
Edouard himself has been in the business for the past decade. Starting with a stint with Newton-Johnson in South Africa, he joined his father, François, at his parents’ relatively low-profile Confuron-Gindre estate in 2014.
With the desire to freely follow his own vision, he began to make wines under his own label in 2021. He uses grapes from the family holdings in Vosne-Romanée, Flagey-Echezeaux and Nuits-Saint-Georges, which he farms organically using many biodynamic principles.
Edouard favours whole bunch fermentation, when possible, and is keen to experiment and make wines without constraints. Gifted with a sensitive touch, this young vigneron is already showing extraordinary talent as a winemaker.
