Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is situated in the village of Monthéliein the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, near Meursault and Volnay.
Made up of 21.5 acres across the appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Auxey-Duresses, Volnay, Pommard and Monthélie, the estate produces red and white wines of almost equal quantities using traditional Burgundian methods. The vines are, on average, 40 years old.
The estate is currently managed by Vincent Durrieu, the fifth generation to work at the domain, who’s dedicated his life to carrying on his family’s legacy of winemaking. He spent his youth apprenticing under his grandfather and is so committed to his vinesthat he rarely leaves them overnight.
Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is unique in that is one of very few estates to hold vintages in their own cellars allowing them to age to the optimum point prior to release. The domain always has an impressive array of older vintages in stock as their cellar of vins de garde dates back to 1951.
